PIA Market Survey Projects Hot Markets
ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA -- While most printers are experiencing
healthy growth in 1998, printers in different market segments see varying
market demand. What's hot and what's not in terms of print market segments
reflect recent trends, according to the panelists of PIA's Quarterly Print
Market Survey for the first quarter of 1998. Electronic prepress being
the hottest (9.5 percent sales growth) and tradtional prepress being the
coldest (-2.8 percent sales decline), prepress overall increased sales
by 3.4 percent over the same period
last year. And while electronic prepress is one of the hottest market
segments, some other marker segments with the highest growth include:
marketing and promotional printing collateral (advertising materials),
manuals/documents, quick and convenience printing, direct mail, and book
printing. On the cold side, besides traditional prepress are these segments:
coupon printing, packaging printing, business forms, and inserts. Market
segment expectations generally mirror current sales. News About Print
