Agfa-Gevaert Acquires Monotype Typography Inc.
WILMINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS - Agfa-Fevaert announced today that it has acquired Monotype Typography Inc., one of the oldest companies in the typography
business. With this acquisition, Agfa gains access to a comprehensive library of typefaces available to customers, as well as broad expertise in non-latin and extended-latin languages, font formats and applications. All of the key people from Monotype will remain with the new organization, including those in the Monotype worldwide headquarters in Chicago, and in satellite offices in Palo Alto, California, Redmond, Washington, London, and Hong Kong. Monotype will continue to operate as it has in the past under the direction of Ira Mirochnick, president of Monotype, who will remain in Chicago. Excerpt from Agfa press release.
