PIA Reports Consumable Prices Rising Modestly for 1st Quarter 1998

ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA - Prices of consumables used by printers have remained generally stable to rising modestly over the first quarter of 1998. Paper prices, according to our panelists of PIA's Quarterly Print Market Survey, were up about 1%. This rates of increase is in line with changes reported in the producer price indexes from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Film and plate prices were reported to have increased 0.9% during the quarter. Ink prices showed the smallest gain at 0.4%. These cost increases are in line with those experienced over all of 1997.
