3M Teams With WAM!NET To Connect Customers Via a Digital Network
The 3M Commercial Graphics Division has signed an agreement with WAM!NET
Inc. of Bloomington, MN to introduce the 3M Image Graphics Network.
3M and WAM!NET will demonstrate how files are sent at high speeds via
the 3M Image Graphics Network at the Federation of European Screen Printer
Association (FESPA) ‘99 “Image of the Future” trade show.
The show will be held in Munich, Germany June 2-6, and is the leading
international trade fair for wide-format graphic printing and imaging.
The 3M Image Graphics Network is a secure, high-speed digital network
that will be offered to select 3M™ Scotchprint™ Graphic Authorized
Manufacturers. These graphics manufacturers will be able to transfer large
files at high speeds to connect with marketing organizations, ad agencies
and designers who are all involved in the creating, approving and producing
graphics.
The 3M Image Graphics Network is yet another step in 3M’s efforts
to speed up the graphic production process and provide their customers
with a total graphics solution.
Their goal, according to Ralph Grant, Business Development Manager, is
to build the 3M Image Graphics Network subscriber network in 1999 and
to build-in value-added services such as file delivery, secured graphics
repositories and color management systems the next year. The 3M Image
Graphics Network will be powered by the WAM!NET® network offering
high-speed, secure file transfer as well as online package tracking.
The 3M Image Graphics Network provides graphics manufacturers, marketing
organizations. design and advertising agencies with the ability to dramatically
cut production time. It enables complete digital workflow allowing all
the partners on a project to collaborate in near real-time.
Even the largest of graphic files can be send via high-bandwidth network
around the world in minutes rather than days. Value-added services such
as the secured graphic repository and color management tools provide teams
of people the ability to view the same graphic and share information on
line in real-time despite being in different locations across the country
and around the world.
Users of the 3M Image Graphics Network will click on a file delivery option on the main user interface to send files. The WAM!NET user interface will then appear and files can easily be sent to any partner on the service throughout the globe.
