Kodak Polychrome Graphics Launches The Two-Up
Kodak Approval XP ™ Digital Color Proofing System
Kodak Polychrome Graphics announced the newest member in the Kodak Approval™
XP family of digital halftone color proofers. The new Kodak Approval XP
imager, a two-up device, joins the Kodak Approval XP4, the industry's
leading contract quality four-up system, which the company launched in
1998. The new imager is another alternative for customers who need high
productivity and high quality demands in digital halftone proofing utilizing
a 2-page format.
The Kodak Approval XP was derived from the Kodak Approval XP4, and images
12 pages per hour. Kodak Polychrome Graphics plans to offer an upgrade
kit to the XP4 to customers whose workflow needs may grow.
Key Features:
- Two -up output page size of 20.9" x 13.3" (530mm x 338mm)
- Two resolutions: 2400 dpi (944.9 lpc) or 2540 lpi (1,000 lpc)
- Includes a software-based RIP for PostScript™ interface so
it is as addressable as a normal printer on a network or through AppleTalk.
- Proof specific parameters can be applied: scaling, page format,
screen rulings, angles, density, dot gain.
- Recipe Color Software will be released soon allowing for custom
color matches.
- It has an Open Front End (OPE) architecture to easily integrate
the image into your workflow
Using OFE, the Kodak Approval XP creates proofs using the RUP OEM's screened
file. The proof can be made using the same dot generator that makes film
or plates.
The Kodak Approval XP also uses the same Kodak 800 XL laminator as the Kodak Approval XP4, allowing for two-sided proofing on paper thickness from one point up to 24 point. Three gloss levels are available: high gloss, standard and flat.
