- Fax: 202-328-8513 April 9, 1999 Kodak Polychrome Graphics Kodak Polychrome Graphics has endorsed a common color specification for
publication printing. The company is endorsing this standard, known within
the graphic arts industry as TR001, with the encouragement of various
industry segments. As digital becomes the norm in graphic arts, Kodak Polychrome believes
standards for color reproduction in the digital workflow become increasingly
important. They believe in the need to simplify workflow processes with
the establishment of reference print conditions and values the importance
of vendor endorsement of any specification. As a result, they fully support the use of ANSI CGATS TR00I – 1995
as the characterization data for the reference printing condition called
SWOP. Kodak Polychrome Graphics made this endorsement after discussing the standards issue with representatives of leading printers, publishers and creative agencies, at a "Color Symposium" meeting hosted by the company in Tampa, Fla., in February. Ray Hartman Senior Vice President - Technology, at World Color, a major publication printer based in Greenwich, Conn., was instrumental in urging John Harmon, Kodak Polychrome Graphics Director, Services and Systems, to organize the Tampa Color Symposium.
