Far Western Graphics Attains New Heights
ROLLING MEADOWS<IL –August, 1999: Far Western Graphics, a commercial
printing and packaging company with 75 employees, and one of the fastest
growing printing operations in the San Jose marketplace, has just installed
a Screen (USA) PlateRite 8000 Thermal Plate Recorder. Co-owner David Motekaitis
relied on West Coast distributor LDR to help determine the right steps
for upgrading Far Western’s prepress department.
Far Western estimates that about 70 percent of the company’s work
already involves PlateRite only a month after installation and anticipates
this number to rise soon. Motekaitis reports that using direct-to-pate
has benefited the company since "the makereadies are incredible.
The plates we are hanging are within a half-dot registration, and we’ve
dramatically cut down on paper waste by 50 percent. With an average press
run of 5,000 to 10,000, that’s an impressive figure."
