TRENDWATCH REPORT IDENTIFIES LARGEST PRINTING AREAS BY STATE AND METRO REGION

HARRISVILLE, RI -- August 16, 1999: TrendWatch announced the release today of the U.S. Commercial Print Sellers Atlas. The report represents the first report which identifies where decisions to buy print are being made. While government, associations, and others publish where print is produced, until now there has not been a guide that measures the demand for print. The U.S. Commercial Print Sellers Atlas is now available at the TrendWatch website (www.trendwatch.com).

The report is a handbook for printers, trade shops, industry vendors, dealers, merchants, paper companies, and many others who need to know where the demand for print originates. Sales managers, product managers, distribution personnel, strategic planners, and anyone who needs to be sure that their company has the right resources in the right geographies will find this new product to be vital in their decision-making.

The report estimates the size of the commercial market for five printing segments: Books, Magazines, Catalogs, Newspaper Inserts, and General Commercial. The geographical markets are broken down into three types of geographies: states, metropolitan area (MSA), and SCF (first three digits of the zip code). The complete report is divided into seven separate regional reports and a national overview report:

  • New England Report ($5.1 billion in commercial printing purchases): Includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont;
  • Mid-Eastern Report (almost $17 billion): Includes Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia;
  • South Eastern Report (approximately $12.7 billion): Includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia;
  • Great Lakes Report ($15 billion+): Includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin;
  • North Central (almost $4 billion): Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming
  • South Central and South Western Report (approximately $8.6 billion): Includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas; Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah;
  • Western Report ($10.5 billion): Includes Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington;
  • U.S. Overview Report: Summary data about the U.S. demand for print and how it varies by geography and market segment.

The complete set of eight reports is only $500 in CD-ROM format (Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Adobe Acrobat PDF files). The complete set of eight reports in hard copy format with the CD-ROM is available for $700. Individual regions are available for $75 each on CD-ROM and $100 each for hard copy and CD-ROM set.
