MUTOH EUROPE FORMS STRATEGIC ALLIANCE WITH COLOR SAVVY SYSTEMS LIMITED, U.S.A.
Oostende, Belgium--August 20, 1999: Mutoh Europe, a CAD/CAS peripherals
&
large format plotter manufacturer, announces its strategic alliance agreement
with the U.S. based Color Savvy Systems Limited, a specialist in color
measurement instrumentation for digital imaging applications.
The first result of this alliance is a low-cost fully automatic product
for color calibration and characterization applications in combination
with large format inkjet printers. Called Focus24, it will be shown as
an engineering preview at the Color Savvy booth (booth # 2639) at the
oncoming Seybold show in San Francisco.
The Focus24 is a joint product development in which Mutoh has invested
its technology in high accuracy x,y positioning and flexible friction-drive
media handling expertise. Color Savvy contributed its knowledge pertaining
to measurement technology and the accompanying software.
The Focus24 is to become the ideal tool to help manage & control
color through all production stages in the graphics arts and digital imaging
industries, providing the ability to measure color and color charts rapidly,
accurately and practically automatically.
Its application field will include stand-alone generation of ICC profiles
via bundled software, use in combination with high-end RIP software packages
(which incorporate routines for the creation of ICC color matching profiles
and/or linearization profiles) as well as calibration applications in
combination with calibration software.
The Focus24 is a friction-drive based device in which printed targets
can be accommodated with a width up to 24" (610 mm) and with a 22.8"
(580 mm) wide measuring area. Moveable pressure rollers enable the user
to accommodate any width of test sheet between 3.9" (100 mm) and
the maximum of 24" (610 mm). The device is equipped with an embedded
SavvySensor by Color Savvy Systems, which is adjustable in height between
0 and 0.059" (1.5 mm) so that many media types/thickness can be accommodated
effortlessly.
