G.E. Richards Graphic Supplies
to Acquire Freeman Graphic Systems

Spicewood, TX -- Friday, August 20, 1999: A joint announcement is being made today that G.E. Richards Graphic Supplies is acquiring Freeman Graphic Systems. G.E. Richards is a large regional distributor of graphic supplies and equipment headquartered in Landisville, PA. With branch operations throughout the northeast and mid-Atlantic region, G.E. Richard’s acquisition of Freeman, closely following its acquisition of Gatchel’s in Louisville, KY, continues to expand Richard’s market coverage in geography contiguous to its present service area.

Freeman Graphic Systems, headquartered in Greenville, SC, has branch operations through the Carolinas and branches in West Virginia and Georgia. Bill Freeman, President of Freeman, indicated that the "combining with Richards provides Freeman with the opportunity to better serve . . . customers with expanded product lines, including a strong line up of electronic equipment. It is also a wonderful opportunity for Freeman employees to become part of a larger, very successful, growing operation that provides personal growth opportunities as well as the ability to offer expanded service to . . . customers."

Larry Wagner, President of G.E. Richards, and Jeff Wagner, Vice President, commented that "the addition of Freeman Graphic Systems to G.E. Richards provides further strategic growth into new geographic areas that enhances our growth opportunities as well as the ability to better serve national accounts and our valued suppliers." Jeff Wagner commented further that he "is pleased with the addition of Bill Freeman and the excellent Freeman employees that the merger brings to Richard."

Dick Childers of Childers Consulting Group represented G.E. Richards in this transaction as well as the recent acquisition of Gatchel’s and the 1998 acquisition of Graphic Express of Richmond and Norfolk, VA.
