Screen Reaches Agreement with FUJI to OEM PlateRite 8000 Thermal Plate Recorder
August 9, 1999 – Rolling Meadows, IL: Screen (USA), a subsidiary
of Dainippon Screen Manufacturing Co. Ltd. of Japan, and Fuji Photo Film
USA have announced an agreement where Fujifilm will market Screen’s
PlateRite 8000 thermal plate recorder to commercial printers.
Fujifilm will market the PlateRite 8000 under the model name Luxel T9000
CTP and will call it Javelin. The unit has the ability to image 12 plates
an hour at 2400 dpi using a 32-channel exposure head and boasting image
resolutions up to 4000 dpi. The unit can accommodate a maximum plate sizes
ranging from 21.6" x 25.6" to 37" x 45.6".
The PlateRite 8000 uses non-pre-bake plates. Fuji’s Brillia LH-PI
thermal plates are a medium run-length plate for use with press runs of
less than 300,000 impressions. This plate has a strong chemical resistance
in the pressroom and can be used with UV inks without baking, making it
one of the first thermal plates that dies not require pre-heating before
processing or post-baking after processing.
