SCITEX ANNOUNCES SHIPMENT OF SCITEX BRISQUE EXTREME DIGITAL FRONT END
BEDFORD MA -- September 8, 1999: Scitex Corporation Ltd. (NASDAQ: SCIX)
today announced that the Scitex Brisque Extreme(tm), the latest version
of the Brisque digital front end, will be available to customers in September.
This new version of the established Brisque digital workflow incorporates
the Adobe Extreme(tm) technology to deliver a highly robust and flexible
solution that maintains editability of the data files and the process
itself at every stage, from creation through production. The new release
continues Scitex's commitment to providing its customers with the most
advanced technologies that enhanced their productivity and output quality.
The Brisque Extreme digital front end (DFE) enables a fully collaborative
distributed workflow, in which all parties, at any stage of the process
and in any location, can view, edit and print files while maintaining
color and print predictability. The Brisque Extreme DFE is unique in its
support for almost all popular workflows, either pre-separated or composite.
Such popular file formats as TIFF/IT-P1, DCS 2.0, PDF, CopyDot and the
PDF/X-1 can all be processed effortlessly in both single page and imposition
modes. This flexibility assures that all customer requirements are fulfilled
efficiently and smoothly, eliminating the file format dilemma often faced
by users throughout the industry.
In order to fully exploit the benefits of PDF and maximize the productivity
and versatility of the Brisque Extreme DFE, Scitex has introduced unique
PDF-related features, including Enfocus PitStop technology for automatic
preflight checking and correction, assuring that the file will output
correctly the first time. This feature is particularly crucial when using
computer-to-plate technologies, which leave less room for error than computer-to-film.
Flexibility is further enhanced by pre-RIP and post-RIP editing capabilities
via a PitStop plug-in. Decisions can be made up to the last minute, just
before going to press, when the user can, for example, decide which press
to use. At that point certain automatic adjustments can be made based
on the press profile (e.g. dot gain compensation).
The ability to view, edit and print files at any stage in the process
includes hard and soft proofing of single pages via Scitex PDF2Go(tm),
and includes the Scitex Color2Disk(tm) color transformation application
that delivers ICC transformed data to remote devices for preview and output.
Local or remote hard and soft imposition proofing are also available after
imposition, using the innovative Scitex Impo2Go(tm) feature.
Another way in which the Brisque Extreme DFE maximizes productivity is
through flexible parallel file RIPing and the new parallel page RIPing,
a unique productivity booster for the Brisque workflow, offered exclusively
by Scitex. These valuable features shorten the overall time from creation
to press. The Brisque Extreme front end leverages the RIP-Once infrastructure
to ensure maximum predictability when outputting throughout the workflow
process (e.g., contract and imposition proofers, imagesetters and platesetters).
