DAX-HOSTED COMPUTER-TO-PLATE PRESSROOM (CTPP) DRAWS 12 INDUSTRY SPONSORS FOR ECOMMUNITY MEMBERS' EVENT DURING GRAPH EXPO

CHICAGO -- October 17, 1999 -- Digital Art Exchange, Inc. (DAX), the leading Internet and Managed Network Service Provider for the graphic communications industry and host of the Computer-To-Plate Pressroom (CTPP) eCommunity, today announced the 12 companies that will sponsor the DAX-hosted Computer-To-Plate Pressroom event. The event will be conducted in Chicago on Tuesday, October 19, during the week of Graph Expo'99.

The CTP Pressroom's last event, at Seybold San Francisco in September, drew eight corporate sponsors and over 300 members for the invitation-only gathering of graphic communications, prepress and printing industry professionals that make up the constantly expanding Computer-To-Plate Pressroom eCommunity. Five out of the eight sponsors at Seybold renewed their sponsorship of the CTP Pressroom by supporting the event at Graph Expo. The five repeat sponsors are Cymbolic Sciences, Heidelberg/Creo, Presstek, Scitex and Western Lithotech. The first-time sponsors of the CTP Pressroom event at Graph Expo are Agfa, Escher-Grad, Harlequin, Noosh, ScenicSoft, Serendipity/Black Magic and Xitron.

"Forum members get to know each other quite well in the on-line world, but there are some things we can't do virtually," said Chuck Gehman, DAX's vice president of technology. "It's great to actually get to meet people, in person, who you've been talking to from around the world."

"Two years ago, about 10 of us got together to have a drink during Print '97. Since that time, the forum has grown many times larger and these events are getting larger each time we have them.... DAX would like to thank the event sponsors for making these memorable and exciting get-togethers possible."

The CTP Pressroom eCommunity is now part of PrintPlanet.com (www.printplanet.com), the premier discussion site for the graphic communications industry. Throughout its nine eCommunities, including the CTP Pressroom, PrintPlanet.com provides a centralized network of graphic arts, prepress and printing professionals and other individuals who are interested in exchanging news, tips and knowledge that is crucial to the success of this industry. Members from around the world initiate discussions and add/respond to discussions in progress.

The CTP Pressroom is the flagship forum on PrintPlanet.com, with over 2,300 members. It has become the recognized industry standard for exchanging CTP information between those professionals who use and support this technology, as well as between those who are in the early stages of CTP implementation. It is an important resource for those contemplating a move to an all digital workflow as well.
The CTP Pressroom has gained wide acceptance nationwide and outside the US as well. It has become the place where professionals from around the world go to take advantage of the free exchange of information from those involved in the industry. "We find the CTPP forum to be of immeasurable value," said Kathy May of Western Lithotech. "The CTPP forum is one-stop shopping for determining the needs of the market."

While individual members continue to spread the word about the CTP Pressroom, vendors have realized the potential of reaching the most technologically aggressive and well-informed clients in the graphic arts industries is through sponsorship of the CTP Pressroom. In the little over a month time span between Seybold San Francisco and Graph Expo, the CTP Pressroom drew seven new sponsors.

"The CTPP forum has grown to become the defacto CTP users' group in the industry today," said Marc Johnson, the workflow marketing manager at Scitex America, who was a repeat sponsor of the CTP Pressroom at Graph Expo.

There are numerous opportunities to sponsor the CTP Pressroom and the other forums on PrintPlanet.com. Sponsors will have the opportunity to promote their companies to a graphic arts-targeted audience while assisting in the support of the eCommunities' activities. Interested parties can contact Dave Mainwaring by email (www.ctpp.com or dmainwaring@dax-it.com) for information, pricing and policy.
The DAX-sponsored website (www.ctpp.com or www.printplanet.com), is the gateway to the CTP Pressroom and is a resource for individuals and companies involved in the use and/or development of computer-to-plate technology and other graphic communications technologies.
