IRIS GRAPHICS ANNOUNCES IRIS IPROOF, A PROFESSIONAL DESKTOP PROOFING SYSTEM

BEDFORD, MA -- November 2, 1999 -- Iris Graphics, Inc., the premier manufacturer of high-performance inkjet proofers and a wholly owned subsidiary of Scitex Corporation Ltd., today announced the addition of the Iris iPROOF(tm) professional desktop proofing system to the Iris(r) product portfolio. Engineered for prepress and design professionals who demand accurate and consistent proofs that are easy to produce and economical, the Iris iPROOF is a fully-integrated system combining hardware, software, inks and media for the best value in productivity, image quality and color accuracy.

Iris iPROOF is a comprehensive solution that predicts final output more accurately than photographic printers and other desktop proofing systems. Along with complete ICC support for custom profiles, the Iris iPROOF system offers standard profiles to provide out-of-box simulations of the most popular analog and digital proofing systems and press targets. Unlike photographic printers, the Iris iPROOF system features sophisticated Iris screening technology, IrisSCREENs(tm), which enable the Iris iPROOF system to achieve professional results that simulate high-end Iris proofers.

"As the digital revolution moves upstream, our customers and their customers are demanding more accurate proofs much earlier in the workflow," explained Mark Doyle, Iris Graphics President and CEO. "Iris iPROOF is designed to offer creative and prepress professionals the ability to create color-accurate page, scatter and remote proofs that will properly set everyone's expectations of what will eventually come off the contract proof and ultimately the press."

By combining many of the key features of the widely accepted Iris IQ/Mac Pro DFE, with several new enhancements and a new Adobe PostScript(tm) Level 3 RIP, the Iris iPROOF DFE complements existing workflows while offering increased productivity. Complete with a powerful print server, the Iris iPROOF system allows multiple users on a network to create an unlimited number of hot folders customized for different printing and proofing standards. This means a single Iris iPROOF system can be used for proofs tuned to simulate a busy shopÕs different presses, proofers and stocks.

In addition, the Iris iPROOF DFE boosts productivity and minimizes downtime by enabling simultaneous RIPing and printing of separate jobs. This powerful DFE, combined with state-of-the-art thermal inkjet technology results in speeds that half those of the competition. The Iris iPROOF system can produce a 1200x600 six-color, 2-up desktop proof in approximately 13 minutes.

A leader in the digital proofing revolution, Iris unites the ease-of use of desktop printers with advanced features of professional prepress proofers resulting in a professional desktop proofer that meets the needs of creative and prepress professionals alike. The Iris iPROOF system works collaboratively with all leading design and graphics applications as well as with other Scitex input and output solutions. In addition, the Iris iPROOF system connects to Vio Digital Graphics Network and Scitex Renderview for cost-effective hard copy remote proofing applications.

"Iris has been the leader in digital color proofing since its inception. As the industry evolves, Iris continues to develop innovative high-performance products to meet the needs of our professional customers. From our IrisPRINT family for contract proofing, to the new Iris43WIDE for double-sided imposition proofing, and now to Iris iPROOF for professional desktop proofing, customers can count on Iris and Scitex to satisfy all their proofing needs." concluded Mark Doyle.

The Iris iPROOF professional desktop proofer will be available through Scitex sales channels worldwide.
