NEW DFE ENHANCEMENTS REINFORCE SCITEX'S WORKFLOW LEADERSHIP POSITION
BEDFORD, MA -- December 1, 1999 -- Scitex Corporation Ltd. (NASDAQ: SCIX) announced several new enhancements to its popular Brisque Extreme(tm) digital front end (DFE) and a host of new developments in the workflow arena. Scitex recently placed workflow center stage at Graph Expo'99 with offerings that boost productivity, quality and cost-effectiveness in both computer-to-film and computer-to-plate workflows.

On the threshold of its commercial release, the new Brisque Extreme digital front end was enthusiastically received by more than 100 users, due to its comprehensive approach to PDF workflow as well as its innovative new features. The Brisque Extreme DFE supports PDF throughout the prepress process while maintaining utmost flexibility and file editability. It enables collaboration between all parties in the graphic arts production process, from the print buyer to the print provider, all based on a PDF file format.

The Brisque Extreme DFE was demonstrated at Graph Expo with the full line of Lotem(tm) CTP devices and the Dolev 800V2(tm) imagesetter.

"Scitex is already well known for offering the most comprehensive workflow," said Hanan Yosefi, Vice-President, Marketing, Scitex Output Solutions Division. "The Brisque Extreme DFE reinforces our position as the leading workflow company. At the same time, we are continuing to lead the industry in technical development, with an impressive array of new technologies and solutions that enhance productivity and quality throughout the workflow."

As part of its goal to fully automate the digital platemaking process, Scitex has developed the Scitex GhostFree(tm) technology, the first fully digital, automatic tool for eliminating mechanical ghosting on press. By enabling fully automatic ghost bar and pick-up bar generation late in the prepress process, the Scitex GhostFree module allows printers to consistently deliver the uniform ink distribution across the printed sheet that customers demand.

At the same time, the high degree of automation offered by the new module reduces operator skill requirements and cuts consumables wastage. Scitex GhostFree uses the same file as the award-winning Scitex InkPRO module, thus further streamlining the printing process. An optional module for the Brisque Extreme DFE, Scitex GhostFree is designed for use in every Scitex output environment.

Scitex Turbo Screening(tm) allows users to enjoy high quality while improving productivity by providing superb dot crispness and enabling high screen rulings at lower resolutions. This new technology also offers an array of special screening formats that minimize yellow and green moire using conventional AM screening.
Additionally, the super resolution provided by this technology provides unparalleled dot shape sharpness, resulting in exceptionally smooth vignettes.

Scitex Turbo Screening, which will be available with both Brisque Extreme and Scitex PS/M, has been released for most Dolev(r) imagesetters, with release on the Lotem platesetter family and PS/M / Dolev to follow soon. It will also be available as an upgrade for existing Lotem platesetters and Dolev imagesetters.

Scitex is about to release Version 6.0 of its PS/M Mac-based digital front end for Scitex output devices. The PS/M front end, which enables full automation and distributed workflow in a Mac environment, has been further enhanced by a new user-friendly GUI, as well as by such features and functionalities as PDF-in support, multiple hot folder generation, Scitex Turbo Screening support, blue line printing capabilities, and others.
