AMERICAN PRINTING COMPANY ADDS SCREEN¹S PLATERITE 8000 THERMAL PLATE
RECORDER TO KEEP GROWING BUSINESS ROLLING
MEADOWS, IL November 22, 1999 American Printing Company, Inc.,
based in Madison, Wisconsin, with yearly sales at $8 million and growing
steadily, believes in the future of thermal CTP. "Since installing the
PlateRite 8000, it¹s been a two-way success. The word is out on the street,"
said Ajay Lamb, Director of Technology for American Printing. "A couple
of customers heard we had the PlateRite and they see us now as more of
a technology leader. We¹re not only getting more business from our existing
accounts, but it¹s opening the door for new business. More companies have
asked us to bid on their jobs."
"Most of our jobs are short to medium-sized in length. A job with 100,000 impressions is a good run for us, and the type of work we do makes the PlateRite 8000 the right choice for several reasons," acknowledged Lamb, who has worked at American for three years.
"We heard about the difficulty of converting to thermal CTP versus visible light, but there¹s no horror story here,¹ continued Lamb. "We had a very easy installation and we¹ve had no problem making the Kodak plates. They¹re hanging perfectly and have saved us on average about 20 minutes in make-ready time. We now hang plates and get them up to color in as short as five minutes."
About 50 percent of American¹s work involves the PlateRite 8000, said Lamb, who expects that figure to rise considerably. Lamb, who also uses a Kodak Approval XP4 digital proofer with the PlateRite, said Screen¹s history and abundant features sold him on the equipment.
