IPA PUBLISHES YEAR 2000 LABOR COMPENSATION REPORTS
FOR THE GRAPHIC COMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY
EDINA, MINNESOTA -- February 24, 2000 -- The International Prepress Association
(IPA) announced the release of the 30th annual IPA Labor Compensation
Reports. The reports are compiled from wage information provided by IPA
members on a confidential basis and distributed free to IPA members.
Separate union and non-union reports provide average compensation data for production employees in graphic communications. Among the positions included are graphic designer, graphic production artist, digital photographer, scanner and camera operators, preflight, prep color and assembly operators, stripper, platemaker, conventional and digital proofer, large format operator, CTP specialist, imagesetter operator, telecommunications specialist, digital printing and press operators, and bindery personnel.
Benefits packages, which are also provided in the report, cover categories such as health and welfare, holidays, vacations, overtime, jury duty, flex time, and training.
An additional report focuses on sales, customer service (CSR), estimator and billing positions, on a regional and national basis. Sales position data includes compensation methods, methods for calculating commissions, payment scheduling and perquisites. There is also a section describing job responsibilities for CSRs.
"Since 1971, the IPA has published annual Labor Compensation reports, which are eagerly awaited by the industry. "Proper compensation programs are critical to recruiting and maintaining an effective workforce, making the IPA Labor reports an invaluable resource for our members."
