SCITEX ANNOUNCES NEW ON-DEMAND COLOR SERVER PRODUCT LINE: Spire Servers for Digital Printers Take Simplicity and Speed to New Heights

HERZLIA, ISRAEL-- March 21, 2000 --Scitex Corporation Ltd. announces a new innovative line of on-demand color servers for mid-range and production digital printers. The Spire(tm) servers offer exceptionally rapid processing, with extensive automation, enabling the fastest possible turnaround on jobs ranging from complex, long-run Variable Information (VI) to simple short-run jobs such as presentations, flyers and brochures. The Spire servers were demonstrated to a select industry audience at the On-Demand Digital Printing & Publishing Strategy Conference and Exhibition, in New York.

Spire on-demand color servers offer superior speed, image quality, productivity, application flexibility, and VI capabilities, making them ideal for quick printers, inplant operations (CRDs), and commercial printers. They are based on an open, modular architecture, and a Windows NT-based operating system.

Support for a wide variety of image formats, a comprehensive color management system and quality features, such as automatic color trapping (Scitex Full Auto Frame(tm)), anti-aliasing and smooth scaling, all performed automatically, enable customers to print high-quality, offset press-like applications. These ensure professional results, independent of operator skills or design tools.

"The Spire product line establishes Scitex as a leading provider of color servers for the on-demand market," said Hanan Yosefi, General Manager, Printing Workflow Solutions Division at Scitex. "With their feature-rich, modular technology, Spire servers support a variety of high-speed digital printers, enabling our customers to enjoy superb Scitex image quality with any kind of print application, from Microsoft PowerPoint presentations through short-run catalogs and imposed books to high-volume, personalized statements."

In addition to their enhanced speed, image quality, productivity and flexibility, the new servers offer powerful Variable Information tools that enable users to print personalized jobs easily and efficiently. These include: Support for a broad range of input formats and workflows, an element-based technology that boosts productivity, and element management that gives the user firm control throughout the VI printing process. With Spire servers, the operator can validate the integrity of the variable job before and after processing, thus ensuring that the job is produced smoothly and correctly.

The new Spire servers can support any kind of print engine, from popular mid-range color copiers, through production color digital printers, to ultra high-speed, inkjet digital printers.

The newest addition to Scitex's ongoing partnership with Xerox Corporation is the connection of Spire servers to the Xerox DocuColor(tm) 2000 series. In addition, a customized Spire configuration is integrated into the Scitex VersaMark(tm) Digital Color Press, an ultra-high-speed digital printer system developed by Scitex Digital Printing Inc.

"The new Scitex color server technology is well-suited to Xerox DocuColor print engines," said Gerhard Moll, Senior Vice President, Document Production Systems at Xerox Corporation. "We expect the Scitex servers to be a major contributor to our success in the on-demand market. Scitex's proven image quality and workflow, combined with the robust performance of the RIP, enable us to offer superior solutions."

Added Hercules Mousiades, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development at Scitex Digital Printing: "With the Spire servers driving our print engines, we can deliver our customers a solution that enables them to cost-effectively print personalized documents at unprecedented speed. Plus, they have total flexibility of workflow and VI content."
