KOMORI CORPORATION LEVERAGES CREOSCITEX THERMAL IMAGING
TECHNOLOGY IN NEW 8-PAGE DIGITAL OFFSET PRESS
VANCOUVER -- April 10, 2000: CreoScitex is pleased to announce that SQUAREspot(tm) thermal imaging technology has been incorporated into a 8-page digital offset press (DOP) produced by the Komori Corporation, one of the world's leading press manufacturers. This high-performance concept press will guide the development of Komori's line of sheet-fed offset presses for many years to come.The new press, inclusive of the CreoScitex imaging system, will be demonstrated at Drupa 2000 in Dusseldorf, Germany this coming May."Komori has shown tremendous leadership by bringing on-press imaging to the full-size press market," commented Dave Brown, VP Business Strategy at CreoScitex."This achievement will allow advertisers, book publishers, financial printers, and other types of short-run print operations to benefit from the fast turnaround and premium print-quality."
Komori expects to begin field-testing of the new press later this year. CreoScitex developed and manufactures the software, electronics, and laser components that comprise the imaging system mounted on the press. The CreoScitex DOP imaging system features the reliability and precision of SQUAREspot thermal imaging technology -- proven daily in over 1600 computer-to-plate (CTP) installations worldwide. SQUAREspot delivers the fastest imaging times and the highest optical resolution in the industry.

In addition to the Komori press, SQUAREspot thermal imaging technology has also been integrated into the Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 DI and MAN Roland DICOweb digital offset presses. Heidelberg, MAN Roland, and Komori are the world's three largest press manufacturers, together claiming approximately three quarters of the world market for offset presses.
