- Fax: 202-328-8513 FIRST INSIIGHT DIGITAL ASSET MANAGEMENT SITE IN EUROPE Aftenposten will be the first publisher in Europe to install Sii's new Insiight(R) Digital Asset Management System (IDAM) software to integrate and automate its current disparate advertising booking, tracking and management systems into a single, enterprise-wide, digital workflow. Aftenposten will also use IDAM to integrate the various forms of digital interaction which currently exist between the newspaper and its customers, and to launch a range of innovative Internet-based advertising services for key customers designed to increase ad booking, scheduling and tracking efficiency. One of these, the Aftenposten 'Ad Hotel' service, will allow customers to directly access their own ad inventory within the database through customized and secure web-based portals. Using Ad Hotel advertisers can directly control their ad programs, react quickly to campaigns, and monitor expenditure. In addition, the newspaper's existing 200-seat Sii Advertising System will be upgraded to the Sii CZAR-II(R) System to bring additional automation and flexibility. "In today's fast-moving communications industry where advertising can be re-purposed across multiple media, it is critical to have a centralized management production system where many procedures can be automated to improve efficiency, reduce cost and increase revenue," explains Laila ¯vrum, Deputy Advertising Production Manager, Aftenposten. "Sii's technology and expertise is focused on providing powerful enterprise-wide solutions which not only integrate our existing workflows and procedures, but also allows us to develop a range of new customer services which will make everyone's life much easier and more productive." "Aftenposten is the first newspaper in Europe to invest in the IDAM system," says Helmut Schwarz, Vice President, Sii Europe. "The newspaper has a reputation as an innovator and its decision to invest in our 'future-proof' enterprise management technology will open up a tremendous range of business and operational benefits across all media formats." IDAM is an automated digital asset management system that stores and manages all types of media and consolidates all document, image, archive and workflow handling into one central production workflow and tracking system. The system features scalable SQL database technology, and integrates seamlessly with PC and MAC applications, web-browser clients and output devices. Although, Aftenposten is initially integrating IDAM as the management workflow platform within the Advertising Division, the system has the potential to be the platform for the majority of production task workflows throughout the newspaper. The CZAR-II Advertising System will be fully integrated with IDAM and Aftenposten's other enterprise systems to provide a total advertising system from booking to reception, production and billing. This will be the central digital management and tracking system handling all incoming ads via Internet, telephone, email and hard copy/film. Depending upon the specific criteria for each ad, the system will automatically trigger relevant management and production procedures elsewhere in the workflow, such as proofing, OPI, and content management. Due for completion by the end of the year, the new advertising system will be capable of not only handling ad sales and management for Aftenposten's daily newspaper and Internet products, but also any future media formats and advertising opportunities that the publisher may introduce in the future i.e. signage and LED displays, billboards, newspapers, magazines, TV and radio. Aftenposten publishes a daily morning edition (circ: 285,000) and a daily evening edition (circ: 195,000) newspaper and a popular on-line site (www.aftenposten.no). About Sii..
