- Fax: 202-328-8513 SNAP Specifications Published SNAP (Specifications for Newsprint Advertising Production) is a set of
printing guidelines for coldset printers. It was developed by a coalition
of companies (including Agfa, Flint Ink, US Ink, USA Today, the Washington
Post and the Wall Street Journal) and industry associations that included
the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF), the Newspaper Association
of America (NAA), the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4As),
the Web Printing Association (WOA), the Graphic Communications Association
(GCA) and the North American Graphic Arts Suppliers Association (NAGASA).
The new SNAP 2000 reflects the experience and response of the industry
to changing technology and workflow alteration. "All segments of the coldest industry will benefit from this updated specification," stated NAGASA President Peter Brehm, who chaired SNAP Committee efforts. "It’s easy to read, heavily illustrated with graphics, charts, and tables, and has been expanded with a wealth of information about digital and conventional prepress, pressroom, and allied processes." Brehm added, "SNAP and SNAPShot are priced aggressively to promote distribution of these materials to all members of a company’s employees involved in sales, customer support, and production. The SNAP Committee feels that wide-spread distribution of this important specification will help advance the quality and efficiency of coldset processes." For copies contact either NAA or WOA.
