AT NEXPO CreoScitex will showcase a range of solutions optimized for use in newspaper environments of varying sizes and production volumes. From input to output, these include scanners suitable for editorial and production department needs, color proofing systems, film imagesetters, and a high-speed computer-to-plate (CTP) system based on advanced thermal-imaging technology. CreoScitex will exhibit at NEXPO in booth #207. Scanning Systems... CreoScitex image capture solutions include all the components needed to ensure the optimum quality for a newspaper workflow. To be showcased at NEXPO, EverSmart Jazz scanners are low-cost, high-productivity, high-resolution, flatbed scanners that are ideal for Editorial Departments, while EverSmart Supreme scanners are high-productivity, copydot-capable, flatbed scanners suitable for use in most newspaper production departments. All EverSmart scanners can scan film and/or reflective copy and incorporate color negative scanning tools. Alongside the EverSmart systems will be the Renaissance II Plus copydot scanning system, which provides an effective solution for including supplied film separations into a digital workflow. A drum scanner based on PMT technology, it can scan up to twenty-eight 8.5" x 11" (A4) separations per hour and is designed to run a variety of tasks simultaneously. Digital Proofing Solutions... CreoScitex has the broadest range of color proofers on the market, including remote proofing, imposition, professional desktop and a variety of digital contone and halftone systems. To be featured at NEXPO, the Iris 2Print produces 600 dpi newspaper-size color proofs with ICC profile capability for predictable, repeatable continuous-tone inkjet proofs that accurately simulate press sheets. The Iris 43Wide -- a double-sided imposition proofer that produces a four-color, 8-up, 360 dpi contone proof in approximately 13 minutes -- will also be demonstrated. Computer-to-Film for Newspapers... The Dolev 4newsV will also be featured at the show and is an internal-drum imagesetter designed for the highest quality output and maximum throughput. Doubletruck-capable with exceptional repeatability, it can produce 52 single broadsheet pages per hour and has been chosen for the imaging needs of some of the largest newspapers in the USA. Computer-to-Plate for Newspapers... The highlight of the CreoScitex booth will be the Trendsetter 2637 -- an automated platesetter optimized for newspaper production. Utilizing advanced thermal-imaging technology, it features fast imaging, automatic plate loading and unloading, and a flexible, standard file-format interface to existing newspaper production systems. The first thermal system developed exclusively for newspaper applications, the Trendsetter 2637 can image more than 60 broadsheet plates or 40 panorama (doubletruck) plates per hour. Currently, thermal newspaper plates from both Anocoil Corporation and Kodak Polychrome Graphics are suitable for imaging on the system. Demonstrations of the Trendsetter 2637 will take place regularly at both the CreoScitex booth and the Anocoil booth on the show floor. The largest independent manufacturer of offset lithographic plates in North America and a major supplier of processing equipment, Anocoil distributes the CreoScitex Trendsetter 2637 thermal platesetter in Canada and the USA. With the introduction of a dedicated thermal platesetter for newspaper operations, printers will be able to achieve a new level of process control and manufacturing efficiency. This translates into better press utilization, faster make-ready, less wastage, and greater consistency and repeatability than with other platemaking methods. In the end, this can give newspaper printers the potential to increase their overall throughput, product quality, and profitability. Visit CreoScitex at NEXPO in booth number 207. About CreoScitex...
