AT DRUPA 2000
Sales expand digital proofing system’s
reach into many new countries
Norwalk, Connecticut, USA - Kodak Polychrome Graphics has taken orders for 25 Kodak Approval XP4 digital halftone color proofing systems at Drupa 2000, capping an already successful second year of sales for this product range. This demonstrates that when customers actually see the outstanding performance and brilliant color output of these premium proofing systems, they have all the "proof" they need that Kodak Approval XP4 is the best in class.
Approval XP purchasers at Drupa represented countries from around the
globe, including Puerto Rico, Mexico, Australia, United Kingdom, United
States, Canada, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Germany, Belgium and Portugal.
Many were the first printers in their countries to own Approval systems.
Some even placed multiple orders – including Takano Editora Grafica
LTDA of Brazil, which topped the list with an order for four. (Brazilian
sales overall totaled six.)
Other multiple orders include four Approval XP4’s for Mexico, including
two to be installed at Orduna SA; and two for Colour Solutions of Australia.

Launched in August 1998, the Kodak Approval XP4 instantly set the standard for digital color proofing. And the system continues to improve. Advances at Drupa 2000 include Recipe Color software, new donors in metallic, green, orange, white, red and blue, and a clear receiver.
Gary Ryerson continues: "The addition of our new donor colors and Recipe Color software means the customer can handle a six-color process or create literally hundreds of spot colors. This flexibility is attractive to printers in a wide range of markets including commercial, magazines, catalogs, direct mail, point of sale and packaging."
The company has also worked closely with other prepress industry leaders
to ensure that Approval XP can be driven by a wide choice of workflow
options including a new Adobe RIP. Olivier Michaud, Kodak Polychrome Graphics
European Business Manager for Proofing Systems, says: "It is important
that we offer open systems and can interface with a variety of RIPs and
workflows. This is a key factor for customers because they want the security
of knowing that the RIP driving their proofing device is the same as that
driving their imagesetter or CtP system. In addition to the new Adobe
RIP, we can currently offer Delta from Heidelberg, Brisque from CreoScitex,
Rampage and Barco. Prinergy and Screen's TaigaSPACE/Renatus will also
be available shortly."
The Kodak Approval XP4 Digital Color Proofing System offers an extensive
array of exclusive features making it a valuable addition to any repro

With an output of over sixteen A4 pages an hour, the Kodak Approval XP4
