NAGASA Appoints
DuRoss as President
Washington, DC, June 30, 2000: Joe Thornhill, Chair of the Board of Directors
of the North American Graphic Arts Suppliers Association (NAGASA), announced
the appointment of Greg DuRoss as President of NAGASA, effective July
1st. DuRoss joined NAGASA in December 1999 as Member Services Director.
He replaces Peter Brehm who left to work with an e-commerce company.
Thornhill, who is also President and CEO of Taylor Impression, Inc., said that the Executive Committee spent the past several weeks discussing and examining it’s options. According to Thornhill, "Greg DuRoss is the kind of leader that NAGASA needs at this time. From his prior work experience he understands how associations function and understands distribution and the challenges faced by the distribution industry. During his short tenure with NAGASA, he has become familiar with both our industry and the particular issues of concern to NAGASA. We had the opportunity to meet him at Forum 2000 and were impressed." Thornhill also announced the hiring of Mary Beth McCutcheon as Member Services Director. "Mary Beth brings great academic credentials, and a wealth of experience including work at a distribution industry trade association. I believe she will be a great addition to our headquarters staffing." McCutcheon had been with the National Petrochemical Refiners Association for over two years. She had recently completed an Accounts Receivable study for NAGASA and conducted a workshop on the subject at Forum 2000.
In commenting on his appointment, DuRoss said, "I will do my best to live up to the expectations created by the fine work of Peter Brehm. No job was beneath him and I have never worked for anyone as encouraging, appreciative and supportive of the work that I did. I am disappointed that the departure of Peter is what has provided me this opportunity, but I am appreciative of the confidence shown in me by the Executive Committee. I am particularly pleased with being able to recruit Mary Beth McCutcheon to the NAGASA team. The timing was right and NAGASA will be the beneficiary of her outstanding talents. Best of all, this means that NAGASA should have a smooth transition with no significant down time resulting from a key staff vacancy."
