11:15 AM "Strategies for Building Profits"

Jim Kahrs

President, Prosperity Plus Management Consulting, Inc.

Do you ever wish there were a comprehensive road map to success for your dealership? I haven’t met a dealer yet that didn’t want to increase their overall profitability. As the old saying goes, "The devil is in the details". The most successful way of building profit is to make the right decisions in each area of the business throughout the year. Having a series of benchmarks to measure your dealership provides the roadmap needed to make these decisions. This presentation outlines the key areas of your dealership that, if improved, WILL build profitability. You’ll learn the benchmarks you should be measuring regularly and what they can do for you.

12:15 PM Networking Luncheon

1:30 PM "A Candid Look at Print: Die, Survive or Thrive?"

Dr. Malcolm G. Keif

Graphic Communication Department, Cal Poly State University

Malcolm Keif will provide a candid look at print markets with a focus on how dealers can position their businesses to survive and even thrive in a period of market contraction. Small, independent dealers will not survive by selling great technologies alone. Unless you can be the low-cost leader, you must focus your attention to service innovation and differentiation as the keys to future success. While there are no simple formulas, staffing your business with energized learners who bring recognized value to your organization is necessary for increasing market share – and as the pie shrinks, you need more of it. Loyal customers do exist, but only when they can’t succeed without you.

2:45 PM "8 Critical Qualities of Leadership"

Joseph P. Truncale, CAE

President and CEO, National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL)

While some people are said to be "born leaders", there’s still hope for those of us who aren’t. Becoming a leader is something you can develop, but it takes a desire and it must be driven by the individual. Joe will provide the blueprint, highlighting the eight key qualities all successful leaders have in common.

9:30 AM "Customers for Life:

A System to Make Sure Clients Never Leave"

Terrry Nagi

Principal, Terry A. Nagi & Associates

A client once procured, should never be lost. New clients are almost impossible to obtain; all current clients should be maintained. Despite intense price competition, client loyalty can be built. This workshop is directed at building your team, involving all customer satisfiers from customer service to the President in going beyond the traditional customer service -- to the exceptional. Questions to be answered in this pragmatic, print-specific workshop include: How do you understand clients' real needs and create programs to over satisfy these needs? Making sure that being "good enough" is not your systems. Building programs and people to assure customers "keep coming back". Finding, motivating, and keeping the best people and customers. Setting goals for exceptional performance and monitoring results. Redefining the best to be the best. Quickly reacting as a group to constantly changing client needs. Assuring that all employees are client satisfiers.

10:45 AM "JDF Workflow for Non-Geeks"

Gareth D. O’Brien

CEO, Objective Advantage, Inc.

There has been much hype about JDF over the last few years and little to actually demonstrate it in action. Objective Advantage has released their JDF-based production controller OA Symbio which brings together pre-press, press and post-press systems from multiple vendors to form a true near-line connected workflow solution. This presentation gives a brief introduction to the concepts of a JDF workflow with PDF content in a manner that explains it to the end-user, not the software developer. Build a job from original PDF artwork through finished product using hardware from HP, Xerox, EFI, CREO, Duplo and Horizon. See automation from the web2print system all the way to the shipping dock all using products that exist today.

3:15 PM "Should I Sell My Dealership"

Jim Kahrs

President, Prosperity Plus Management Consulting

There has been a lot of talk recently about the buying and selling of dealerships. For most dealers the business represents their single largest asset. Many are counting on the sale of this asset for retirement. This leaves many dealers with burning questions. What is the value of my dealership; when should I consider selling; should I consider buying another dealership; how do I maximize the value of my dealership and more. The purpose of this presentation is to answer many of these questions for you. The presenter, Jim Kahrs, President of Prosperity Plus Management Consulting, has helped many dealers through mergers and acquisitions in the copier and mailing industries. Jim will provide the information you need to make the right decision for yourself. The presentation will allow plenty of time for questions and answers so come prepared with your burning questions.
