Guide to Selecting a New Computer System
Now Available

NAGASA, the North American Graphic Arts Suppliers Association, has recently published its second in a series of how-to guides, The NAGASA Guide to Selecting a New Computer System. Created to assist the smaller business in selecting the most cost-effective computer system for their needs, the guide also describes how to be better prepared for some of the pitfalls that often come with purchasing and installing a new system.

The first section of the guide provides a step-by-step process for selecting a system, as well as for determining which company employees should be involved in the purchasing decision. The second section focuses on the important factors guiding the decision-making process, including costs, reliability, and service and maintenance issues. The final section of the guide focuses on the many features and capabilities of a computer system and discusses how to decide which of them best fits your business’ needs.

The NAGASA Guide to Selecting a New Computer System was written by Dick Friedman, a
recognized authority on information systems for distributors and manufacturers. Friedman has 36 years of systems experience, including 22 years of helping distributors and manufacturers acquire and effectively utilize systems. Working with Friedman was a NAGASA task force comprised of Paul Doucette of the Doucette Corporation; Gene Brett, E. Thomas Brett Business Machines; Jack Gruhl, Instant Graphics; Julius Hjulian, Texas Type Co.; Kent Walker, Walker Supply Company; and Nat Zucker, Pic Graphic Products.

Each NAGASA member firm will receive one copy of the guide at no charge. Additional copies may be purchased for $95. Non-members may purchase a copy for $155. Order a copy from the NAGASA web site, located at www.nagasa.org or by calling NAGASA at 202-328-8441.
