NAGASA Announces Groundbreaking
Study of Imager Market

Washington, DC, May 1997 - NAGASA-the North American Graphic Arts Suppliers Association-has announced a first-ever dealer-level study of the North American imager market. The study, which will be conducted by Mason Consulting Inc. in conjunction with International Power Connexions, will track the sales of imagesetters, platesetters, and other graphic arts imagers sold through resellers. In announcing the study, NAGASA President and CEO David J. Steinhardt said: "NAGASA is pleased to sponsor this groundbreaking study of imager sales through the dealer/reseller channel. In doing so, we expect not only to demonstrate the importance of the reseller channel to the industry, but to provide marketing and statistical information heretofore unavailable to either manufacturers or their dealers and resellers." John Alley, Pitman Company District Manager and NAGASA Chair, added "The NAGASA Imager Study represents a pioneering effort of the association to create a unique information database. This major initiative is expected to be only the first of several such projects providing detailed information regarding the reseller channel."

The study, which tracks sales for 1997 and subsequent years, monitors actual imager selling prices, formats, light sources, and other key parameters. Data submitted by resellers will be aggregated and reports prepared for sponsors. Data will be compiled and reports issued quarterly. Most dealer members of NAGASA have agreed to furnish data for the study, ensuring the reliability and accuracy of the data reported. The sponsors of the study are AGFA, Dainippon Screen, Eastman Kodak, ECRM, Purup-Eskofot, Scitex and Ultre.

Annual data reports are available at $11,995. Those interested should contact NAGASA at 202-328-8441
