NAGASA and GATF join together
to present first NAGASA Institute

Week-long training program for dealers and resellers to be held March 22-26, 1999, at GATF headquarters in Sewickley, Pa.

NAGASA, the North American Graphic Arts Suppliers Association, is pleased to announce plans for the first-ever NAGASA Institute, a joint venture between NAGASA and the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation.

The NAGASA Institute will be held at the GATF training facilities in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, the week of March 22-26, 1999. The NAGASA Institute is an educational and training program designed with the NAGASA member sales representative in mind. The week’s sessions are split between two-and-a-half days each of prepress and press. The key objectives of the program are to assist dealers and resellers enhance sales through a better understanding of traditional and digital
technologies, and to help dealers and resellers recognize and target selling opportunities.

The schedule of prepress events will include discussions and demonstrations of important subjects such as color management, conventional and digital workflows, file checking and computer-to-plate technology. The press segment will cover basic lithographic techniques, plate mounting and makeready, color measurements, inks and technological trends. Participants in both segments will receive certificates upon their completion of the training.

Members of the NAGASA Education Committee who worked with GATF on the program include co-chairs Brian Kroot of Northeastern Graphic Supply and Kelly VandenBosch of X-Rite, Inc. The remaining members of the committee working on the program consist of Eric Frank, Heidelberg USA; William Manley, Graphco; Ted Meek, Modern Photo Offset; Christine Miller Reid, Polaroid Graphics Imaging; Patrick Monroe, California Polytechnic State University; Kelly Morrissey, Digital Art Exchange (DAX); Steve Urmano, Pantone; and Mark Von Zwhehl, Varn International.

The cost to attend the NAGASA Institute is $750 per person for either two-and-a-half day program or $1,000 for the entire week, including lunch each day. Participation is limited to NAGASA members only.
