NAGASA LOOKS TO THE FUTURE Washington, DC, July 1997 - NAGASA - the North American Graphic Arts Suppliers Association - has formed an ad hoc committee to explore strategic directions for the association. Guided by the NAGASA board of directors, the group of dealer and manufacturer members termed the Millennium Committee will explore new and innovative directions that may not follow current NAGASA programs, and will seek to envision the future of current NAGASA membership in light of digital imaging technologies and industry consolidations. In announcing the Millennium Committee, NAGASA president and CEO David J. Steinhardt commented: "The Millennium Committee is an exploratory and educational resource for NAGASA. The group will identify companies in related imaging fields that could be served by NAGASA, and will seek ways to expand the graphic arts distribution channel. The committee also will identify other professional and trade associations for cooperative efforts." The committee also will receive outside counsel from a small group of nonmember advisors and consultants. NAGASA chair John Alley offered the following: "Since its formation in 1993, NAGASA has enjoyed growth in membership and programs despite general consolidation in the graphic arts industry. The NAGASA Millennium Committee will allow a small group of members to focus on the future of our Association and to advise the board of directors regarding the best means of continuing the NAGASA success story. In this time of technological and organizational change, it is imperative that successful organizations such as NAGASA constantly reassess the industries they serve." NAGASA - the North American Graphic Arts Suppliers Association - is the world's largest trade association of dealers, resellers, distributors, and manufacturers serving the graphic arts, printing and imaging industries. NAGASA members sell more than $4 billion of equipment, supplies, systems, software, paper and service annually.
