Available: The NAGASA Guide
to Selecting a New Computer System
NAGASA has just published its second in a series of how-to
guides geared toward special interests within the membership.
Created to assist the smaller NAGASA member in selecting the
most cost-effective computer system for their needs, the guide
also describes how to watch for some of the pitfalls that come
with purchasing and installing a new system.
The first section of the guide provides a step-by-step process
for selecting a system as well as which company employees should
be in on the purchasing decision. The second section focuses
on factors guiding the decision-making process, including costs,
reliability, and service and maintenance issues. The final section
of the guide focuses on features and capabilities of a computer
system and how to decide which of them fits your business’
needs.
Working with the author, Dick Friedman, was a NAGASA task force
comprised of: Paul Doucette, Doucette Corporation; Gene Brett,
E. Thomas Brett Business Machines; Jack Gruhl, Instant Graphics;
Julius Hjulian, Texas Type Co.; Kent Walker, Walker Supply Company;
and Nat Zucker, Pic Graphic Products.
Each NAGASA member firm will receive one copy of the guide
at no charge. Additional copies may be purchased for
$95. Non-members may purchase for $155. Order a copy from the
