Organizationally, where does responsibility for your computer system lie?
Most dealers put responsibility for their computer systems with general management, although slightly more than one fourth see the computer only as an accounting tool. Interestingly, not one of the 56 dealers responding to this question put computer responsibility in the sales department. See figure 6.
When was your software installed and when was it last updated?
Software
at the average dealer responding was first installed in 1990 and last modified
in mid 1995. The oldest software still in use was installed in 1981. One
dealer had not upgraded software since 1987. See figure 7.
