 NAGASA Goes to Polls

In February the 1998 election cycle for NAGASA comes to a close by members going to the polls to vote. The election cycle began in October 1997 when nearly 20 members requested that they be considered for open officer and director positions. All members were given the opportunity to nominate themselves or another through an association-wide canvas.

In November, an eight-member Nomination and Award Committee was selected by the committee co-chairs and board vice presidents, Brian Kroot and Mark Kannenberg. Members of the committee were J.C. Anson, Rip-it Computer Technologies; Dick Blair, Young Phillips; John Chistolini, Bloom’s Inc; Don Hanigan, xpedx; Richard Jacobs, Statewide Offset, Inc.; Larry Ritsema, The Challenge Machinery Co.; and Tom Saggiomo, Kodak Polychrome Graphics.

In December, the committee conducted a conference call to consider all the nominations and determine a slate of candidates. That slate was then reviewed and unanimously approved by the current board of directors. Ballots with statements and biographies for each candidate were mailed to each primary member representative -- one vote for each company -- on January 16 with a deadline of February 13 for returned ballots. The candidates for the 1998 board of directors are:
